Ingredients
2cupsedamame(frozen in pod)
1Tablespoonsesame oil
1Tablespoonssoy sauce
½ teaspoonsalt(flaked sea salt)
1teaspoonsesame seeds(white, black or mixed)
Instructions
Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
Coat for roasting: Toss the frozen edamame with sesame oil until lightly coated.
Air fry: Arrange in the basket (a little overlap is fine). Cook for 8–10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until pods are hot and lightly blistered.
Season while hot: Transfer to a bowl and toss immediately with soy sauce, flaked salt, and sesame seeds.
Serve: Enjoy warm. Squeeze the beans from the pods with your teeth—the pods aren’t eaten.
Notes
No need to thaw — the edamame goes straight from freezer to fryer.
Give the basket a shake halfway through so the pods cook evenly.
Season while they’re still hot so everything sticks.
Serve it as a snack, or pile it alongside a salad or grain bowl for a quick meal boost.
You can usually find frozen edamame in their pods in the freezer section of most supermarkets — in the near the frozen vegetables or Asian foods.
Keep it simple: just oil, salt, and edamame works too.
Want it spicy? Sprinkle over chili flakes or add a dash of chili oil.
Need gluten-free? Swap for tamari, GF Soy sauce or coconut aminos.
A mix of black and white sesame seeds gives the edamame a bit of a “finished” look — perfect if you’re making it for friends or adding it to a grazing board.
Out of sesame seeds? Leave them off — the edamame still tastes great. Or you could try sprinkling on some puffed quinoa.
